    Brake M/cyl leaking again

I bought a new m/cyl from one of the usual suppliers, it started leaking pretty much straight away and I had the seals changed by another Stag specialist but again, it has always lost some fluid and the fluid got dirty quickly. This specialist changed by wheel cylinders & calipers but still I have dirty fluid. Having cleaned my engine bay yesterday I checked tonight and saw fluid dripping from the m/c - Servo joint, I have now removed both. The servo has a small amount of fluid in it so I will rinse with meths tomorrow and see how it goes, I'm not sure what to do with the m/c though,I don't really want another repro one after the ouble I've had with this one and Peter seems out of stock. Why is it so difficult to get quality replacement parts, safety items shouldn't be made on the cheap.

Hiya stranger. The problem is usually new old stock rubber, pretty much confirmed by the fluid getting dirty straight away, not the m/s itself. Recon ones now, usually come with a stainless insert. I can re-seal it with new rubbers if you want to pop over. Martin.

Thanks but the seals have already been changed and it still leaks Martin, I need to replace the m/cyl again.

            I sympathise with your predicament.

I bought a new master cylinder from one of the reputedly better suppliers only to have it fail just over 12 months after I bought it. The supplier told me it was because it was part of a stock of 500 they bought some time ago and the seals had degraded whilst on the shelf but because it was more than 12 months after I bought it he wouldn't replace it. i.e. he knowingly sold faulty merchandise but is using an escape clause to get out of it. He generously offered me a discount on a new one If it wasn't so far away I would be knocking down the door to demand my money back - I guess that is what they are relying on. I will be thinking twice before buying anything from them again.

            Good luck with the repair.

Is there any other servo/m/cylinder we can fit? i.e from another vehicle/brand?.... apart from the BMW of course.
