    Hardtop - Dents

    Hi,
Just picked up a decent hardtop , good colour match & with an intact lining , but unfortunately with a couple of 50p size dents , has anyone had any experiance of themseleves or with one of these ding removal companies pulling dents out of a hardtop? , as I am keen to see if it can be done before I disturb the head lining.
    Cheers

I had a shallow fist sized dent in the wing of a Jag XKR which one of the dent compaies removed leaving no evidence it was ever there. I'd say that as long as the paint is not broken and the metal is not creased there's a good chance they will be able to do something. I have the opposite of a dent on my boot lid; someone in the past has obviously slammed the boot down hard on something that was pointed and stood a little proud. No wonder the car is blue! As soon as I can I'm planning on one of the dent removal companies to come and have a go at it.

      Hi Steve,
I had one of those outfite attend to my last daily driver before I sold it. There were some small, quite narrow, dings just below the window on the offside rear door. By the time he finished, they were invisible. The only reservation I have about the hard top is that they have to have access to the rear of the panel, which is easy on a door or wing, but not with an intact headlining.

I had one of the smart repair guys try and take out a shallow 2 pence piece size dent on my rear wing. He used heat and some tools and even though he could get at the rear of the dent he daren't put anymore heat on in fear of cracking the paint and said that the steel used on the Stag was thicker than steel used on modern cars hence the need for more heat. I ended up having to have the dent knocked out and the rear wing repainted.
