    Vmad's header tank

I'm keen to fit one of Chris's header tanks as I near the end of my Stag's long restoration, but I have one of Stagdad's external water pumps fitted so the alternator is now on the other side with a Tony Hart bracket. (This is beginning to sound like a list of suppliers!)

I am unsure about the space above and to the left of the alternator for the header tank. Have any of you have fitted the same? Does it all fit OK?

I have asked Chris and he very wisely suggested that I ask on here. Obvious really!

    Cheers,
    Mike.

I have been looking at this myself for a while now.

The only combination I have found that is guaranteed to work (header tank plus relocated and uprated alternator) seems to be from Wards, that's the way I am going (sorry Chris!).

I don't think it will be too difficult to retrofit a tank level sensor to the Wards tank - will report back on that eventually.
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

There have been a few posts on this subject, here is a link to one of them, http://www.stag.org.uk/forum/showthr...ht=header+tank

I have a vmads header tank fitted and would also like to fit an external water pump but I believe the header tank needs to be plumbed in differently therefore I would be interested to know how you get on.

Hi Stephen. Was your alternator the Hart or Wards? Do you have a picture please showing how it fits (like your avatar only larger?)

Thanks for all the replies. I've also looked at the other threads and the general concensus is that it will fit OK. I've ordered one from Chris and I'll keep you informed of the fit - and the plumbing!

I've just fitted nice new refurbished wheels. Hopefully, I'll get the driver's seat fitted back in over the weekend and then it should be off for an MoT early next week. The first MoT for over 20 years...

The wedding is 2 weeks today!

                Cheers,
                Mike.

                  V Mad,
Mine was a cut the metal up and get the welder out job, but very similar to the Hart bracket.
                  Regards
                  Steve

To report back, I have one of Chris's header tanks fitted as well as Tony Hart's alternator bracket. Fitting is no problem and there is about 0.5" clearance between the bottom of the tank and the alternator.

I also have one of Steve's external belt driven pumps. The fitting of the pump changes the plumbing around the water pump cover as the heater return goes elsewhere so the original is blanked off. I used some 15mm Yorkshire fittings to make up a right angle and fitted the header tank main feed into there.

I'm happy to supply more details if anyone wants.

Car is off for MoT today! First one for over 20 years.

                    Cheers,
                    Mike.

I've fitted Chris's header tank and used Tony harts alternator bracket, no problem. I originally bought an alternator bracket from Wards but it limited the alternator adjustment. I'm also interested in fitting Steve's external water pump but wondered about the plumbing with the header tank so any more info you can provide Mike would be very much appreciated, thanks Terry

Good luck with the MOT Mike - and the wedding !

If you could post a few pictures of the various additions to your car I, and I'm sure many others, would be very grateful.

                          Cheers

                            Hi all,

As you may have seen from another post, we now have a new MoT!

When I get the car back (still at the garage having the final paint flatting done) I've a few jobs to do but I will take some more pictures of what I did and post them here.

Thanks for your help and encouragement over the last frantic 5 months!

                            Cheers,
                            Mike.
