Hi guys. could anyone please explain the correct adjustment for the kickdown cable on my 76 model stag fitted with the Borg warner 65 box. To my mind it seems to hang on to 2nd gear for longer than i think it should before deciding to give me top (usually in the region of 35 mph unless i virtually remove my foot from the loud pedal). Im hoping that with some cable adjustment it will change gear at a more sensible speed. Thanks for any help and or advice

I had the same problem after re-fitting the carbs. The same advice was given and I did what Martin said. Since then the changes have been very smooth and better than when I bought the car.
On the subject of 65's, there were earlier posts about the small amount of oil it takes to refill the box and how it does not match what the book says. I did mine yesterday (for no other reason that I will now know what's in it!) and it only took 2 1/2 litres of TQF to get it to just above the "cold high" mark. I have not yet re-started it and moved it through the gears as per the ROM, but I assume it will take a bit more when I do that. However, I think when you "drain" the box, you don't get all of it out. That exhausts my knowledge on the subject! When I took the sump off to replace the useless gasket, it looked very complicated in there.
