    Fluids recommendations

Gentlemen, I will soon need to re fill the Stag with fluids, could I ask for your recommendations for:
    Engine oil
    Gearbox oil differential oil
    Brake and clutch fluid
    Anti freeze (including mixture ratio)

    Thank you all once again

    Paul

P.S. I should also ask what the protocol is regarding the initial fill, "running in period" and then drain and change of the engine oil.

    Hi Paul

I (and others) have had good results from VR1. I get it from eurocarparts online - you get free delivery and there is usually a 25% off deal if you catch the site at the right time. Last lot I bought cost £22.50 for 5l

As to th eothers here is s recent thread which Neil (Flying Farmer) responded to on his preferred choice http://www.stag.org.uk/forum/showthr...t=gearbox+ep90

Good that you are getting to that stage so I hope that helps

For running in I am using a cheap 20W/50 then drain and refill with a quality oil. If you use a high quality, high spec oil from the start the engine will not bed in properly. Unlike modern engines these old engines need to be run in.

Hi Chris, how many miles will you run it in for?

          Paul.
Agree with Chris a cheaper 20/50 for running in I used Unipart for this £14ish for 5Lts from the "Range".
Just refilled mine as its done 1000miles since the full rebuild in March and used VR1 for the engine and used Comma SX75-90 GL4 for the Manual box what a difference this has made the changes are now silky smooth.

          Paul.

I have used VR1 for years, most especially in old US V8s, but I had a long chat with the guys at Classic oils at Silverstone, and they tell me their Millers "Classic 20 50" is very similar, with the same high ZDDP content. Might try some next time. £21 for 5 litres in 20 litre lots, quite a bit cheaper than VR1, which last cost me just under £29.
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.
