is it the recession or is the country in decline - deffo not stag related

Guys - is the country so in recession that crime is just increasing - I live in quite a nice area (perhaps that the problem) but my young son was mugged again today (heavy beating and mobile stolen) and the same thing happened to him this time last year - slightly different as he was with 15 of his friends all had their phones taken at the same time - sorry, shouldn't bring this to a Stag forum, but raised it as a warning (perhaps) to be on guard etc

Hope your lad's ok Ian, I suspect an increase in acquisitive crime is inevitable with so much unemployment and a woeful Justice system.

There is a nice little app for i phone maybe on andriod as well but once installed phone can be tracked by owner and police informed where stolen phone is located.

Well, gotta say cities are riddled with petty crime. that's mainly why i moved up here to the western isles. Haven't locked my front door for 8 years, even when i've been on the mainland. I moved away from glasgow mainly because I found the mindless crime very wearing. i think the gang culture of the younger generation seems to be a factor. Added to the "woeful justice system" it's a recipe for disaster. Only solution is to Come up here folks, plenty of room with oustanding stag roads. Now, wheres ma car keys? Oh yeah, left them in the car. Ach, I'll get em tomorrow. cheers , jools.

Sorry to hear of your son's ordeal. As a father myself, my concern would be for the trauma caused to your son and it's effect upon his future well being. Suggest you encourage him to talk it through and not let it fester in his mind.

I dont think the recession is the cause but it doesnt help. I know a lot of youngsters involved in crime have had a bad start in life, but I think the CJ system needs to send a stronger message that crime will not be tolerated.

I hate the word petty crime. Statistics say crime is down but I think most people don't report lots if crimes knowing little will be done and it will open them up to retribution if they prosecute.
Like Chris Vmad I don't think kids are born bad it's more bad parenting. When I was young i thought hedge hoping and knock out ginger was naughty but I would look for a bin when throwing away my rubbish.
