Stag Design Changes

Whilst building up my project car I have noted some design differences that are new to me, one being the metal tab at the base of the windscreen frame.

The latest is in the hood frames. I just had an old Mk1 frame in for restoration, and apart from the change in catches, I didnt know there had been a change in the catch striker. This frame has not got the 'top hat' strikers that are fitted on most cars. I presume this was changed to stop the strikers slipping out sideways through the end of the catch.

I wonder if anyone has compiled the definitive list of all mods? Perhaps when I 'retire'......

As an owner of an early Mk1 (albeit modified over the last 42 years), I'm interested in the differences. Have you a photo of the metal tab? I can't see it on mine but then again it might not the original windscreen (?). What's your indicator cluster look like? Does it have one indicator light at 12 o'clock?

Steve, the metal tab is in the frame. Mine is in the centre, but some cars even have two. There are pictures on this forum but I cant remember where they are.

I have two indicator lights on mine, but I know some early cars only had one.

You need to get hold of a copy of "Original Triumph Stag". This lists the changes and at what LD number.

Some cars have three tabs at the windscreen base.
