To add to the ranks of Valvoline VR1 and Millers Classic 20 50, I found another whilst at Silverstone:
This is a 15W - 50 mineral oil with high zinc content http://www.aaoil.co.uk/racing-HR-1
Available from: http://www.aaoil.co.uk/
The bottom 15W weight might help reduce stress on oil pump drives/jackshafts etc. during cold winter starts.
I spoke at some length with a very enthusiastic chap at AA Oils (Anders), he tells me this oil was specifically developed for older engines with flat tappet cams or bucket OHC installations, needing the zinc addititive, and whilst it is a racing oil it also has an additives pack to give longer life in road cars with anti-corrosive properties. Lastly, it will be proof against the effects of ethanol which is being introduced into our fuel.
RRP is £39.60 for 5 litres, their new website is due in a couple of weeks, then they will give a list of UK stockists. We might be able to negotiate a Club discount with a stockist?
