I am trying to remove the O/D from the 'box and its fighting me,why won't it come apart when I remove the bolts? Is there a secret I don't know about?

Any clues would be most useful,thanks....Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Yes, there is a secret - read all about it in the section entitled "separating the castings" in this, brilliant and invaluable, site: http://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/techn.../JOD2/JOD2.htm

    Cheers

I got mine off with a little tap with a hammer to a rod I bolted to the output flang (didn't need much),sort of a slide hammer arrangment. Its the one way clutch that is the problem.the output of the gearbox goes into a splined socket in the OD which is in 2 parts, the splines are fighting each other gripping the shaft.Dave at OD spares told me if it wont budge undo the ring of 6 bolts a bit and it should let go.

      Cheers Steve

        Andrew.
Make sure you leave the nuts on the ends of the long studs and gently tap with a wooden or rubber faced mallet, they can stick very well to the gasket but when it releases its a bit of an experience!!
