    Pressure in rad

Hi guys recently I had a small water leak in the Vee, I used K Seal and seems to of worked, but this morning I was checking levels when tried to remove the brass plug on radiator there seemed to be a lot of pressure and water shot out, I hadn't used the car for 24hrs so was cold, also when I drove today I noticed the temp gauge was reading higher than normal especially at motorway speeds, it hasn't overheated and I haven't lost any fluids, have I got a problem? Or does this sound normal, when I have removed the brass plug in the past this hasn't happened before!

Save the guesswork - i'd check it for head gasket failure with block tester fluid or a sniff test

K seal and similar can stop your water leak but I've found it can cause more problems than it solves.had something similar with my sons Astra loosing water, added a sealant to the water and it took the head gasket straight out with water in the oil and vica versa.I would agree with Andy you need to check for failure and look for signs of water in the oil such as the mayonnaise effect on the oil filler cap.

I too seem to be suffering a pressure problem. I haven't driven my Stag since the IWE and when I opened the coolant bottle it squirted out all over the place, the bottle was full to the brim and the rad took about a pint and a half to refil. I am not a happy bunny! I should be driving up to the lakes in a couple of weeks. .

I am going to retorque the heads and chuck in a bottle of K seal and keep my fingers crossed!

Today I checked water level and there was no pressure built up at all but the expansion bottle was nearly empty, I have filled the exp bottle halfway and topped rad up and driven for about 45 mins locally a mixture of traffic and short blasts, I then checked levels again and still no pressure build up and normal temp readings, is it possible i might of had an air lock? or am i clutching at straws! i had previously checked head bolt torque.

Straws can sometimes be ok to clutch.... If your problem is not apparent, then you can't fix it - keep a careful eye on things and keep everything crossed....

Yeah I know Russ, in the back my mind I fear the worse, strange though been out again tonight on the M25 done about 30 mls at motorway speeds and although the temp gauge is a fraction higher than normal, still on the M though all seems ok at moment, put it down outside temp a bit higher than normal!
