Just went for MOT and failed on the all brake binding on hard. When I left home no problems at all also when had tracking adjusted prior to Mot no problems only on rolling road, drove home brakes binding but after standing for 30 mins they off again so went for a spin as all appeared ok, but after engine got hot they started to bind again.I managed to get home after leaving for 10 min to cool and they appeared to have eased but as i went onto full left hand lock and drove on drive they had locked on.I have new calipers/new stainless hoses, I am at my wits end as after standing for some 30 mins they are off again both front and back, i can under stand drums bind/hard on but not disc,s.HELP/HELP

Welcome to the forum Bigwill. If all brakes are binding it must be the master cylinder not releasing, either an internal valve or possibly the breather hole in the cap is blocked. Long time since I played with one. The informed opinion on here is to replace the complete cylinder rather than mess around with rubbers.

It may be that the pedal is not returning enough and that the hole from the cylinder to the reserve is not being exposed, if it isn't, pressure in the system will not be released therefore brakes will bind.
Is there adjustment available on your cylinder pushrod, or perhaps is your brake light switch not adjusted correctly and is keeping the pedal forward slightly?
May worth looking at before you start dismantling systems.

Thank you John for the welcome your idea is the same as i thought so ordered a master cylinder and new brake linnings and pads as the one's on car burned, I have had another idea bounced off me by one of my own stag group that the servo may well not be releasing after assisting braking thus holding on the brakes and when it stands the vachum is released, so will bite the monatary bullit and buy a servo as well. Many thanks again.

Hi Brian,
The most likley cause as has been suggested is master cylinder piston not retracting past recuperation port.
This could be due to mal adjustment of the servo pushrod?
Might be a blocked recuperation port.(unlikley)
New Master cylinder is now cheaper than it was 20 years ago & on a stag, quite easy to swap.
Do try disconnecting the servo to see if they release.
Phone if you need a hand.
Regards
Julian
