Round Britain Reliability Run - 5th October 2012

I am sure many of you have heard of this bi-annual (every two years) event organised by Club Triumph, but were you aware that this year there are 7 Stags taking part in addition to Mike Weavers 4wd Stag engined Estate? As always, this is an event that raises money for Charity which this year is Children with Cancer.

For the uninitiated, this is not a jolly jaunt around the country but quite a hardcore event that emulates the road testing of cars undertaken by Triumph themselves in that it leaves North London on a Friday evening, breakfasts in John O'Groats Saturday morning, followed by breakfast near Lands End on Sunday morning, returning to the Finish in North London Sunday evening, a true test of both car and crew having done 2000 miles in 48 hours.

If anyone feels they wish to support this cause, a number of Virgin Money Team accounts have been set up for donations at

http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/giving/ - just search for Club Triumph in the 'Find Fundraising Event' section

To date there are 103 Triumphs entered representing most models in the marque involving crew from most Triumph Clubs, not just Club Triumph although at least one member of each crew has to be a CT member.

      Hi

I considered entering this year but once I sat down and worked out the cost of the fuel for 2,500 miles I realised that I could take the family on a short holiday for that amount of money!

      Good luck with the run.

      Regards

      Bruce

        Hi Bruce

Yes, you're right I had a similar thought before entering, but heck, this is about enjoying the car!

I did a similar run in the Stag last year on the 10 Countries Run where we did over 2000 miles, albeit in 4 days. That was great fun as well and we consumed copious amount of fuel on that and still managed over 27mpg despite the Alpine passes.

Some people have also said to me why not just donate the fuel costs to the charity instead, but that misses the point, I like to use my Stag as regularly as possible and see these runs as the ultimate challenge for it (and me!)
