    Hub Puller (not stag)

I need to pull off the rear hub from the half shaft on my Sunbeam Tiger. I have a universal hub puller but for four stud hubs it only picks up on two wheel studs. I have tried it but I am afraid it will bend or break the hub if I torque it up any more. It feels like it needs some real serious torque. Tried heating the hub but still no go.

I really want a puller than picks up on all four studs.

Has anyone used or even made a four stud puller before, if so can you recommend something?

Small chassis Triumphs often have this issue, there are many of these around:

      Chris.

The accepted way is to apply torque and then hit the centre bolt hard to shock it off. If you just apply torque you will break the puller.

I have an old Spitfire hub puller (Like that TSSC one in previous post) that I modified to try to remove the stag rear hubs without success. I just milled the holes to slots so it should still be ok for your application. You do need to use a large Stilson wrench or chain tong with it as there is no anti rotation device to prevent the hub / puller assembly turning whilst you screw in the center bolt. An original design fault unfortunately but with the use of the aforementioned tools it did the job easily on my Spitfire.
Your welcome to it if you want it.

Neil, sorry for the late reply. I still have not progressed with this problem, and I think your puller could be worth a try. Would you please PM me how much you would like for it inc postage? I will PM my details.

Chris I have made pullers. one mechanical and one hydraulic for the rear hub and also for the diff couplings. I have a spare half shaft that I need to repair so i will get to try them out. I would thinl that if you use an impact onit it should break the hub free also adding heat will help.

                cheers Stuart
