J type overdrive question

Hi,

Just stripped my j type od. The cone clutch looks like new but does it have a wear limit ? In other words Will it only slip if it is obviously worn out or does it reach a minimum thickness and start to slip.

Urgent help needed as I need to get it back on the road asap.

In my experience it is normally the one way clutch which causes slipping under power, or if slipping after disengagement, it can be dirt in the port that dumps the oil pressure.
