    electronic ign

    Good Day

have electronic ignition on the car - can anybody advise me if the wire from the ballast resitor to the coil
should be of a certain thickness / resistance ?

Seem's that my coil gets v.hot (have followed other threads on this) have had new/old coils and all seem to do this
car seems to run ok but on putting your foot down the car hesitates and just does not run 100pct....

    thanks for any advice

    Hi Steve

Wire thickess looks OK, and is not critical anyway.

I take it that the white/slate wire on the left is the 12v feed from IGN switch, and that the yellow wire goes to elec ignition box, also the white wire to the coil POS comes from the starter small terminal (this is the starting boost)?

To be sure its wired properly, measure the volts at the coil POS; this should be approx between 6 and 7 volts when the the coil NEG is at approx 0 volts. If it reads about 12 volts something is wrong.

      Hi Chris

the white/+ yellow wire comes from the elec/ Ign box (white +ve / yellow -ve side of coil)

will measure the volts /coil - and see where the white/grey wire comes from...

      thanks

If you are feeding the electronic ignition unit off the coil +ve, it will not be getting 12 volts which might explain some of the problems. Assuming it is supposed to have a 12 volt feed its supply needs to come off the feed to the ballast resistor, not after it.
