Any Good Stag Specialists Left in the North West ?

Hi All, I've been trying to get in touch with a Stag-wise mechanic to do a few jobs on a car I've just brought but Max at Totally Triumph has now retired and shut up shop and I can't get hold of Keith at Tynwald Triumph - his landline rings forever and his mobile number returns an unobtainable tone. Any suggestions ?

    Regards,

    Mark

i know a guy Matlock way, he looks after mine, retired but has carried on with the classics, he's rebuilding his e type at the moment, he fixes nearly all of the cars in the local club, i can pm you his number if you want to try him Mark

i can vouch for him, he has never done a bad job for me, and he's trustworthy, i have seen him rebuilding xk 150 engine, and his e type, firenza, cortina and a tasmin. oh and a really nice guy to boot

    Alan

    PS
i dont if he will take extra on but you could try him?

Depends on how far you want to travel. I don't know if they are still there but James Alexander in Chester (were linked to Paddocks at one time),
did a good job of installing a new crankshaft in my Stag in 2003, and also sorted out some rear suspension problems. They specialised in Stags mainly.
Paddocks would know if they are still around as their garage was where Paddocks used to be before they moved into Chester itself.

Regarding my earlier post, I have just checked through my service bills and it is Michael Alexander, not James Alexander as said in my post,
and the address was/is Saltney Ferry Garage, Saltney Ferry road, Chester, CH4 OBN tel. 01244 682223. After putting in a new crank in May they had noticed a few other faults on the car, so I went back to them in October 2003 and what they did then was as follows :-

Rear Suspension rebuild and Steering Rack plus reseal Differential.

            Steering rack £111.62
            Rear Subframe mountings £47
            Differential mountings £23.50
            Trailing arm bushes £35.25
            Differential seals & gaskets £11.75
            Sub-Total £229.12

            ATF 1 Litre £5
            G.Oil diff £5

            Labour - rear suspension & diff £250
            - steering rack £45

            Total £534.12

The cost the previous May of fitting new Crank etc., including new Oil Pump, new Throttle Cable and other bits and pieces was Parts £352.50, Labour £750.

The above are all 2003 prices, and I have to say I have never since had any problems with any of the parts they fitted at that time, and the car today runs as well as ever.

Hope the above information is usefull.

I am currently in Chester. I am trying find a 4" square speaker grill for my Stag door speakers, as I have lost one (must have dropped off somewhere when I opened the door), does anyone know where I might get one? Have tried Halfords but no success. Don't mind buying the whole spaeker with grill, but it must be 4" to fit the hole in the door panel.
