Drivers window u/s

Drivers window switch been a bit dodgy for some time. Now died. (luckily with window UP!)
Can anyone tell me how to get the switch out of the centre console.I think it's a push fit (according to Rimmers exploded view) but I don't want to force anything and end up breaking something. Haynes is, as usual, useless!

Hi, you need to lift out the coin tray first,then lift the the rear of the switch panel then push it forward as it hooks under the actual centre consol. Beware of the spring clips that actually hold the switches in place as they will go flying.

I find that they can be removed easily by using a plastic spatula (the type that comes with Araldite epoxy glue is ideal). Just slide it under the edge of the switch and lever it out. A piece of paper between the spatula an the console helps to avoid scratching the veneer.

I've had mine out so often that they almost jump out to order But generally you can get them out from above without too much problem, and without dismantling.

But the thing I'd say is, if you're pretty adept with your hands, before buying a new one, try cleaning up the old one - it often works. It can be a bit fiddly and you need to be careful but you can dismantle them and clean them up, often with good results.

I use switch cleaner but I understand that putting the bits in Coca Cola can do the trick - really !
