Does anyone know Les well enough to call him and have a word about this? Might be a better way to approach it if he understands what the feeling is amongst a sizeable portion of his potential buying audience rather than us just venting our feelings here?
Just a thought

I hate to say it, but I doubt there are many specialists who don't do this sort of thing (no doubt they will call it 'business'). You could argue Frontline are doing this with their brand new MGB LE 50s (yup, every one it seems is on a 60s plate with free road tax despite every part in the car being brand new, and it housing a completely different engine and gearbox (new again) from this year's Mazda MX-5...).

I am going to see Les at the end of the month as I have recently bought some stuff off him. I will try to make sure he is aware of the law! Generaly though I dont buy much of him even though he is literaly across the bay (Morecambe) from here because he dose not play the rules right on ebay. He uses the loop holes that ebay have left in their policies in attempting to protect buyers and sellers alike! Sometimes the old exchange and mart was more honest... an advert was written submitted and paid for and inserted in the magazine. Then you sat back and waited until you either sold your stuff or you didnt!

Hi all,
just a point of interest really, this could be a bit like triggers dads broom really.
At what point is a car the car, my stag when i first got it had the wrong engine for the log book, this i got changed. now i have just re built the body with new inner and outer sills, floor pans front and rear both sides, new inner and outer wings, front and rear valences, the bonnet and boot are both replacements. most of the running gear is new or replaced second hand.
a friend of mine has a 1971 spitfire and this has a moss racing body, it also has just had the engine changed to a 4.1 straight six, because of this the chassis has be changed for a new one. All of the running gear will be changed to accommadate the new engine so is this still a 1971 spitfire or not.
This vehicle being sold is basically just a log book but legally if i bought this, i could build a totally new body using new and second hand parts using the vin plate as the starting point, have i saved an old vehicle from oblivion or not.
At what point does the vehicle cease to exist?
Marcus
