    steering rack shims

Guys - I know this has been asked before but does anyone know of suppliers / sources for the inner ball joint steering rack shims used to pack out the inner ball joints (or have they become harder to find than hens teeth) - many thanks

    Cheers

When I reshimmed mine I bought a set of poly 'cups' which had a backing washer. When fitted they didn't need shimming - if anything they were a little too tight. I can't remember off hand where I bought them - I have had a quick look and can't see them on the major suppliers lists anywhere. I think I bough them from Chris Wittor.

Also at the same time I took a gamble that the Triumph 2000 shims might fit. (Part No's 130031 and 130032/10). The external diameter is the same and they seem to bear in all the right places, but the hole in the middle is bigger. In the end I didn't have to use them. They fit, but it is up to to whether you deem them to be suitable.

    Chris Witor - Triumph 2000, 2500, 2.5 & Dolomite specialist automotive parts supplier, supplying a wide range of performance and standard spares worldwide - website: www.chriswitor.com - email: chris@chriswitor.com - phone: +44 1749 671404 - fax: +44 1749 671404 - address: Hornsmead, Knowle Lane, Wookey, Wells, Somerset, England BA5 1LD.
