Hardtop - front seal replacement

Hi All

Seeing as the Stag is having to live outside this winter I have borrowed a hardtop off a work colleague. After today's deluge I got into the car to drove home from work and ended up with a wet lap as water shot through from above the windscreen when I first set off. It appears that the front seal on the hardtop which fits along the top of the windscreen chrome capping needs replacing. This is hardly surprising as I am led to believe that the hardtop is as original and has never been restored.

So my question is, what is involved with replacing that front seal? I can't take the hardtop off to go and have a look as its still raining!

nothing complex, the seal fits into a channel - the usual combination of a small flat improvise tool and patience is all that is needed.

as Andy has said Bruce, i used a paint scraper, fit in the leading edge and then push the other edge in, easy job for a man of your talent

Hi Bruce,
Could the water be coming under the chrome plate on top of the windscreen frame? I know it used to on mine before I put some mastic in there.

No it nots coming under the chrome plate. I know this because it has sealant under there and does not leak when the soft top is up. Also, I can see some daylight between the hardtop seal and the chrome cap.
