I bought an inkjet cartridge today at Wilkos. They had a offer of buy one get the next half price. So I took their last one off the shelf and asked how I can get my second at half price. Despite trying all different ways I asked they could not find a way to do it unless I came back when they had more stock. I said my old one is now empty so I will have to buy a new one now.
When I got home I phoned their consumer line (free 0800 number!) and they sorted it for me. The store will now phone me when they have more stock, and if I take in the receipt they will sell me one more at half price.
The other day I complained at Sainsburys that they never had our favourite bread ready whenever we called in at our regular time of 08:30 on Fridays. The next week, not only did they have it available, it was displayed on a rack by the entrance as if to say 'please notice that we sorted it for you!!'.
It just shows that when we complain we can make a difference.
