Last sumer, I took mine to a garage near the blacksmiths arms as it was the only one that did walk in tests on a Saturday afternoon (I realised that my MOT had expired one Saturday morning :shock
There was a couple of polish lads in there who gave the car the most thorough test I have seen. The Brit in there said that they were 100% on every test as they didnt want to risk losing testing licence etc. They did a visual and mine is a 77. Was it a mistake on their part or rule change?
They should have been sent for re-trainingas I'm sure yours is subject to the 4.5% rule - although I will say that when my father-in-laws June 73 reg MGB was MOTd they did a visual as the MOT computer stated that the car was a 71 - being a factory auto, it may have kicked around in stock for a couple of years until they found a mug............ so maybe the computer can pick up on date of manufacture, and your Stagwas made within the pre 75 date rules
I just kept my gob shut - a hard task I can tell you
My 77 reg Stag will have to comply with the 4.5% rule - unfortunately and I no longer have a CO meter
