Head Removal. I'm in the deep end now

Hi Julian.

Sorry to see your garage has caved in. Strange weather yesterday. I didn't take any pics of the set-up in place. I will take a few shots of the equipment used though and post them up. I wasn't expecting the heads to move as easily as they did. It was nice to see after lots & lots of swearing over the last few weeks. I did have to remove my power steering pump and the associated pipes too as they go through the tubular manifold I have fitted. The manifolds were a lot easier to remove when off of the car. Still its been a good learning exercise. I now know the car much better.

Yep, weather was very strange and, until yesterday, I thought BR were bull*****ing all those years ago when they talked about the 'wrong type of snow' however yesterdays was very unusual and, abnormally heavy - I know, after having to shovel it all off the collapsed marquee, I had to clear our track just to get my daily car out.

As I said, I'm really pleased for you that your head removal has worked ok - I know how worrying it must have been for you. If you can post the pics of the equipment that would be good.

And, as you say, there's nothing to beat doing a job to get to know your car and, I find, to improve your own self confidence. Just think, after this, everything else will be a doddle

I am a great fan of the bottle jack method of head removal, even if I once jacked so hard one of the head studs snapped and fired the nut like a bullet across the garage! ( it was an 8 ton jack though)!
