    Lowered springs

    Hi all

My Stag sits a little too high and I'd like to lower it, can anyone recommend lowered springs? I have spax adjustable shocks all around which has firmed up the suspension so what springs to go for?

i don't want it to rattle my fillings!!!!

    cheers

    Jason

    Hi Jason,
I've been thinking of doing exactly the same thing.
Monarch have lowering springs on their website - they recommend having slightly shorter springs on the front.
However, I've not made any decisions yet, so I'm looking forward to hearing what the guys say.
    Cheers,
    Frank

I have Chris Witor rears and standard original fronts, car seems to sit level. Be careful with the fronts if you change them as the problems start there. Why not change the rears and see what it looks like first.

          Hi Bob,
My car also sits higher at the front.
When you say "Be careful with the fronts if you change them as the problems start there" - What problems are you referring to?
          Thanks.

I fitted 1" lower springs and gas dampers from Paddocks. 2 years on and they still seem okay.

I have a set of Tony Harts lowered progressive rate springs fitted, transformed the handling without ruining the ride quality

I have Chris witor springs on mine, the ride is slightly firmer but not to harsh.Ive heard that Chris witor and Tony harts springs are the same but can not confirm this, don't forget to get the new brackets to correct the rear camber when fitting the new springs

                        Hi Jason,

i've had the HRS kit for years now and can only mirror what Neil has said - transforms the car but you do need to be careful on speed humps 4 up!

Comes with brackets too and an easy fit. I've also got adjustable Spax all round but not set too firm at all.

                        Nice dark evening project!

I am also on the Chris Witor springs. It makes the ride slightly firmer, although it makes for a car that is great in the bends. As others have said, I have heard they are the same as what Tony Hart sells (They are definitely the same as what another Stag specialist sells ).

Dependant on what camber your rear wheels are at now you may not need the rear brackets (I did not but my wheels were showing slightly positive camber before I started).

                              Hi Jason

Mine is on Monarch progressive rate springs front and rear, but with new standard shocks. I'm much happier with the handling now. With my nice light engine on the original springs it was a touch nerve racking sometimes!
