    Spark plug choice standard/iridiums?

Hi, any feedback....coments or suggestions on best sparkplugs

    #2
I used iridium plugs in my old Bonniville and in my old Hyundi 1999 nothing but aggro missing ect. So I binned them and replaced them with NGK (Hyundi) Champions (Bonniville) and no problems now. I don't think they work so well on older ignition systems, never tried them in the Stag tho. Graham

Blimey - you're doing well, the last time I looked they were £20 each Martin.

BP5E are the choice of many (assuming they are for a Stag engine)

Drive a Stag every day... it's wonderful!

I use NGK BP5ES, which have been fitted by the PO, without any problems.

Iridium plugs the last time I checked for most cars were around £20-30 for 4 plugs (NGK Brand), which is similar to what OEM platinums cost on most family cars .

In a Stag I reckon they are a bit of a waste with the mileage most people cover (and for what they cost (you would probably be looking at around £60 for 8 plugs!)).

i have used NGK BP5ES with no issues although I may switch to Champions next time just because .

If anyone wishes to obtain a cheap set of BP5ESs let me know .

copy and pasted . thought this was good

How would you like to be shut in a chamber with temperatures of up to 3000°C, splashed with petrol and given a 30,000 volt electric shock 25 times a second, and be subjected to pressures 50 times greater than normal atmosphere? No? - well that’s what your spark plugs are subjected to! So if you want peak performance from your engine, make sure you fit suitable plugs.

Hiya Lunatic Aw give us a name - I can't call you that !
I'd stick to NGK or Bosch, sadly I've had more than my share of Champions that have failed when new, I've had some success with them, but not enough. Martin.

The above is too true Alan!

Martin, I was going to go for the Champions since it appeared that Tony Hart swore by them in comparison to other plugs. I shall bear the failures in mind .
