    A PI Stag did Someone Say?

    I recall a short while ago (roughly around the same time that Classics Monthly put the 'Which Stag Engine is Best' article into print) one or two members here were wondering whether a 2.5 PI had ever been installed into the Stag by someone, with it seeming as if it was pure hearsay at times .

    It appears that there are one or two knocking about! One of which (running very well indeed, albeit without the typical TV8 burble) rolled into a local specialist . The installation did look at a glance as if it was a factory installation. I am told it shifts well too with the Tomcat seats inside are a great addition :



    Whilst most of us here enjoy and love the TV8, this does seem pretty decent.

        You do have a point there Alan.

        This chap seems to have been fine with his Stag. Although a friend of mine with a Mk1 2.5PI Saloon did have issues, although they turned out to be due to a dubious (yet renowned) rebuilder of PI units. A trip to Prestige with his metering unit and a Bosch pump later and his car is back in business . Although he does wonder whether the pump would have been OK if he had been to Prestige from the off...

          I had a similar experience with mine. When I rebuilt the engine I fitted a rebuilt metering unit and new injectors. The car was a pig to start and lacked power quite badly - totally the opposite to a PI saloon which I used to have. It turned out that I had at least one faulty injector and a duff fuel pump, with these replaced it now runs smoothly, is reliable and it flies! I think the lesson I learned is that PIs are fine if everything is in very good order!!
          Drive a Stag every day... it's wonderful!
