    Salt

I drove up into Snowdonia yesterday and I was horrified to find that the roads had been salted

It's only October (just!) - I'm sure the roads are not salted this early normally.

Off outside to wash it off now!

    Brian.

I'm going to try and stay off the salt this winter (first time) but I'm thinking of making up / buying, a wheeled device that I can pull the length of the car to wash the underside. Does anyone know of such a device ? Martin.

i have always used the long Karcher lance with right-angle end, but as Mike points out there is a well-designed Karcher extra that will probably do a better job..... i could never find an excuse to spend £75 notes on it though.

Good idea Ian, but I'm not sure I'd get much pressure. Martin.

Add to that the cost of a Karcher - I'll bet no others would fit - and it gets excessive. Martin.

I find that a normal hosepipe is as good as anything for getting underneath.

I don't just want to do the wheel arches but the whole underside, and my ability to lay flat out on the ground, work and then get up is considerably reduced - and don't mock the afflicted ! Martin.

As the others have said, a Karcher pressure washer seems to help with washing the salt off .

When I used my TR7 daily during the winter I washed the under side once a week with a lawn sprinkler.

That looks a nice bit of kit but the pressure washer is £402 on amazon so you are starting to get into silly money of £500 for the full package. You could bob along to the local car wash a fair few times for that money!
