Not wishing to pay HMG more speeding fines - sorry delete "more" as could imply I'm a boy racer - I have been investigating possibility of doing away with the 1900 invention of a whirly speedo drive. Messrs Speedy Cables quoted me " an inductive speed sender. The price for this conversion is £180 to convert the speedometer and £39.55 for the speed sender. All prices quoted are plus carriage and VAT. The approximate turnaround time from receipt would be 8 weeks." Rather more than I'm prepared to pay.
So I did what I should have done and extracted the drive, greased the cable bar the top 8 inches and then came the tricky bit of getting the greasy snake back down its hole without plastering the car and myself. But did it by coiling in my left hand, and much to my surprise has considerably removed the wobble. How long it will last I know not.
