Hello from a new Stag owner

Hello everyone, I've just taken ownership of my first Stag; lovingly built in 1972, first registered in 1973.

A rust free example, which according to the last owner was found in a Nebraska barn.

For now I'll be compiling a "to do" list, which so far is:
    1. electronic ignition
fix oil leak - or at least chase my tail trying
fix AC unit...it's Texas afterall and that means it could be anywhere from -12*c to 45*c
      Install new soft top
      New hard top headliner
      New weatherstriping

This is just for starters as I'm sure 'my' idea and the 'cars' ideas of what needs work will be very different indeed

Hi, welcome to Stag ownership and the forum. From that picture it's a handsome car and I wish you well with it. Have you joined up yet ? If you need any specific advice do come back, there's a wealth of knowledge on here that we're more than happy to share, and make certain your sense of humour is switched on Oh yeah - one more thing, we can't call you RNF. Enjoy, Martin.

Hello and welcome. That is a lovely looking Stag I must say. As with any Stag, whether it's fixing it or driving it, it's all an adventure .

          Hello RNF,

welcome to the Stag ownership and the forum. It is the place to meet people who are infected with the Stag virus. It seems to me that this virus is not curable.
Even though your car looks great I'm assuming that your list will become longer.

          Regards from Germany
          Gerd

P.S.: It would be nice if you would give your real name in the forum.

            Hi "RNF".

Whereabouts in Texas? I had some friends in the Houston area once, but it's a big state.

I too have been setting about oil leaks on my car - is it from the engine? If so there are two main areas - oil pump sealing rings and cam covers.
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

              Thanks everyone,
              I'm about 60miles (100km) north of Dallas.

I believe its from the back of the drivers (LHD car) cam cover dripping down the block, but until I get it cleaned up it's hard to tell right now.

The rubber gaskets for the cam cover bolts were perished so I've fixed that leak. Now on to the next leak. I'm sure after a while I'll begin to feel like the little Dutch boy sticking my fingers in the dike.

Yes, I have just resealed my own cam cover on that side - it's the half moon rubber seals that harden and shrink.
