    Newbie - 1st Question

Hi, I have recently purchased my 1st Stag, a 1977 MK2 Tahiti Blue MOD with approx 124,000 miles on the clock.

I'm sure this will be the first of many questions. I’ve noticed a pipe (vacuum?) coming from the front of the inlet manifold has been blanked off. I suspect it should go to the thermic sensor on the air cleaner box. The pipe to the thermic valve on the top of air cleaner box is also missing, so I assume that should come from the front connection on the thermic sensor. Please could someone confirm my assumptions are correct or explain how the pipes for the thermic sensor and valve should be connected?

    Many Thanks

The thermic sensor is a switch for the vacuum feed to the flap motor. So you connect vacuum supply (from inlet manifold) to thermic sensor (nearest terminal) the thermic sensor (other terminal) to the flap motor.

Check operation: flap allows cool air above a certain temperature, but moves to warm air when below that temp (cant remember the set value but its in the ROM).

          Hi Chris,

          Welcome from me also

Chris is, of course, quite right. However getting the back pipe on can be tricky - it's very short but if you've got the correct, fairly rigid, pipe then you should be able to fit the pipe to the inlet manifold and then push the air cleaner box onto it.

          Cheers

It might have been blanked off because the thermic switch has failed drawing air extra into the air/fuel mix. They run perfectly fine without this connected.
