Can anyone recommend a good electric aerial for the Stag ? I think I want it on the rear wing, and would appreciate any guidance over fitting etc as well.
Hi Richard, have a look on ebay for the aerial, they're all much of a muchness, unless you want one of the expensive German ones.
You need to fit it on the nearside rear wing, the offside doesn't have enough clearance because of the petrol tank. You may need to cut the carpet and the boot board a little but it's not difficult. If you haven't got a hole already, buy one of those stepped drills, ordinary drill bits don't cut a round hole or one that's big enough. load the area above and below the hole with rust proofing wax, and I mean load ! Paint first if you have the time. Fun project. Martin.
Anyone ever had an electric aerial that worked for a reasonable period of time? I know that I haven't. Of course if you stick with a manual aerial eventually you leave it up and some plon###r bends it for you. Based on that and forgetting to get the hole drilled before the respray I went with a hideaway aerial that I've fitted under the dash along the wiper rack. It cost $40 NZ 20 quid but I'm sure it could be bought cheaper up there.... Hope it works.

I can't remember ever having one break. (tempting fate I know) the one on my Stag has been working since 2003 as far as I'm aware. it got stuck up once but they may have partially been down to me as every now and again I clean and lube it with some Duck Oil on a rag and may have inadvertently pulled or pushed it whilst doing this.

The best in the world ! no question, but very expensive. I bought a NOS Motorola cable remote for a Silver Shadow some years ago, it lasted about 3 years then jammed the cable and burned out, pity, it was almost flat when down. Martin.
