Graham. At the risk of seeming a know-all, and an old one at that, I am going to stand my ground on this one! It is described in the manual as a Pressure Differential Warning Actuator, (PDWA) which is all it is. It just activates a switch to warn of a pressure imbalance in the two circuits. It is not a valve to close off the low pressure side, and if you look at a drawing of one, or take one apart, you will see that there is nothing in there that could possibly stop the flow of brake fluid from passing through it. The moving shuttle simply lifts the switch pin, but has no means of sealing off the flow of brake fluid through the brass casting. The one thing you can totally discount if your brakes are performing badly, is this switch. I will hang up my "Advisory" hat if you can prove me wrong! Mike.
Without going into too much detail but going back to the subject of ABS, I am absolutely certain that it saved myself and my wife from a very serious accident and may just have saved our lives. So whatever it's shortcomings are or however it may at times seem to take control from the driver I am all for it.
I am forever impressed by the level of detail, yet simple and extremely clear explanations, on the Buckeye site. If you've not looked at it before, take a few minutes to look at it - if you're like me then you'll end up hooked and be reading it for hours
Whoever wrote it is a Superstar as far as I'm concerned . It's just a pity that, being written for the TRs, only a relatively few bits are relevant to Stags.
