While building up a better picture of my cars history, I wrote to one of the previous owners and recieved a reply last year:-
"It was lovely to receive your letter and photo of 21st November in regards to my Dads Stag, forgive me for the late reply. Very sadly, however, I must let you know that my Dad, Arthur, passed away unexpectedly in September.
He would have been delighted to receive your letter and no doubt would have written you a long letter or given you a call to chat about the car.
We all adored the yellow Stag and are pleased to hear you too are gaining much pleasure from her!
Unfortunately, I really know very little about the car, but I do know that Dad did purchase the car from Mrs Piper, although I have no further information on the engine rebuild.
Abinger Hammer Motors did do a fair amount of work on the car whilst Dad owned her, so I dare say they have a fairly thick file that they would be willing to share with you.
I know my Mum may have some books about Stags that could be of interest to you and she will pop them in the post in due course.
I think you may be keeping this special car for some time, but should you ever consider selling her I would love to have first refusal if that's ok?
With very best wishes to you for Christmas and the New Year,"
Well what turned up to-day was this:-
001.jpg with a nice letter saying sorry for the delay, and please pop in if your in the area.
How nice is that
