Hi All,
Just posting this to help others if you have same symptons as I know from other posts many have. For sometime now I have, since fitting a new alternator, a good charge (dash voltmeter and multimeter readings) and ign light behaving ok - but an intermittent glowing of ign light and drop off on dash voltmeter during day and night use but very intermittent + regularly not getting ign light on when key turned to first position (before engine fire up)
. To cut a very long story short (having pulled out wiring loom / reconnected / located alternator wires / checked earth grounds - even replaced battery
) - turned out to be the fuse box brass holders being corroded (and needed to emery the fuse ends as well) - wish I had checked them first (just didn't think) - must have been enough corrosion to give just only enough "sensing" for the alternator to charge but only occassionally - now to get on with all the other probs with car, at least its winter s'pose
Cheers
Ian
