Hi Guys, not been on here for a while. First I went in the garage early last week and noticed the stag had a flat tyre on the rear near side, I pumped it up and it seemed to be alright. Three days later it was flat again. Popped the wheel off took it to Kwickfit just down the road. Left it with them to find and repair the leak.When I returned they said the tyre was ok (its only a few months old) its the wheel thats at fault. the tyres not sealing properly as the wheel needs a refurb and tyre refitting nothing they can do. Surely its only a case of removing the tyre cleaning up the innner lip where the tyre mounts and refit tyre, if tyre fitters don't provide this service then who does. Second saw a yellow 'M' reg Stag entering Oxshot in Surrey about 4pm today,any body from here? Dean

Hi Dean, not seen you at the cricketers recently, hope all is OK?

Most likely corrosion on your alloy wheel, son had it on his Rover BRM. I believe the solution is to clean off the corrosion and then use a sealant before refitting the tyre, I have also read that for some reason Quick Fit don't use a sealant. Might be worth trying a local independant and see if they will do it for you.

The Stag alloys are old now, and the original coating will be long gone, get the beads broken, then clean off the corrosion, (easy) with emery, then have them re-inflated, preferably with a sealant, almost everybody uses it, KwikFit are a bit "Corporate" to do anything other than "normal" Martin.

Thanks for the info, I will try another tyre fitter, Roadwheel in Fleet are good. Keith I will see you tomorow at the Cricketers if I have got the dates right. Al I might be able to make it to Newlands on Sunday (so long as it does not rain) I am fed up of washing the Stag only to get it dirty again,keeps bloody raining.

Plus 1 for Martins tyres in west end, or if you just want the bead broken, cleaned and sealed pop by my workshop in Chobham and ill do it, but you have to make the coffee!!!!

My local independent tyre fitter automatically cleaned the tyre bead seating areas off with an air powered wire brush when I had my new tyres fitted.

I won't go near KwikFit and haven't for many years as they simply cannot deal with anything not in the (very restricted) manual. I asls object to their insistence on collecting your name and address so they can sell it on to multiple junk mail organisations, and yes, I knew it was them as I deliberately incorporated a mis-spelling.
