    Hood catch that won't catch

I am trying to replace a RH hood catch that was broken when I bought the motor. As you can just about see the "new" one is about 10mm too high when it should be latching sweetly in. I can see no up and down adjustment so I am completely baffled. The hood is a v tight fit possibly because it is in v good condition and guess it was not used much - thanks to the previous owners. Any suggestions most gratefully received.Hood catch pic 2.jpgHood catch pic 1.jpg

Sorry for bad news but the usual reason is that frame is bent. There is a small amount of vertial adjustment on the catch but this rarely is of any help.

The solution is to get the frame staightened. Its a bit too complicated to explain on here. Contact me if you want any help.

Thanks for that. The only difference I can see between each side is that the bar that runs round the back (629770 I think) where the U bend is (nowt to do with loos) is higher than the left so I'm sure you must be right. The rear hood catch is also some way off the centre of the hole - needs to stretch back - which is always a bugger to release. I think I need to find a clever local chap who can hold my hand. Many thanks.

I have now worked out that the J arm or fish-hook as someone has called them has opened up a bit more on the RH side compared to the left - which nicely locks. I presume the hood got jammed and was yanked at some time breaking the latch and bending the frame. Everything looks just dandy - well oiled and straight and no play at all. Is it possible to remove (ho, ho) just this short arm to correct the angle or must the whole bloomin' lot come out? Thanks.

Yes you can remove the J-leg. The three bolts onto the rear member are easy enough. The round headed bolt can be a pain to remove though. When refitting, check lateral location as well so the catches line up both sides.
