    Wooden steering wheel

I want to replace my original steering wheel, which has seen better days with a wooden steering wheel. Can anyone suggest a suitable make and size. I have seen 14" and 15" flat or dished. Suggestions would be helpful....

i have a 14'' dished Astrali, very pleased with it. a lot better than the original wheel, warmer on the hands and feels better, there is a pic on my profile in one of the albums

I have a Motolita on mine. Not sure of the size, and can't check as I haven't got the car back from it's engine rebuild yet, but I think it's probably 15". It's very thin to hold, but I really like it.

I have a 14" Moto-Lita semi dished. Very nice feel. Pais an extra £30 for an ally billet centre.

After sitting in a Stag with a Moto-Lita (in addition to owning a couple of cars with Moto-Litas) I would go with them everytime.

I would not be tempted by a Mountney steering wheel however, despite their cost. I guess there is a reason why OEM steering wheels regardless of marque are not always cheap (I.E : having the rim and spokes cast as one, and not simply pop riveted togehter):

I have a boss to fit a MOMO wheel, but would not wish to loose the STAG centre rubber pad, which I would retro-fit.
Somehow that STAG centre rubber pad is too much a major part of the car to me to loose!
                Silly, maybe.

Not too silly at all Mike. Mine's an Astrali wheel which is no longer made sadly as the wood colour is a close match to the dash wood.

i had my mota litta stained at the factory as same colour as my dash at no extra cost, great customer service with the guy at nec stall. also had my cap machined with the STAG on so as to look like the rubber cap from original wheel i think they did a great job. i have it as my avitar. cheers Joel

If you look on the Moto-Lita web site you will find many interesting steering wheels, I personally will be going for the 16" dished with holes in(When my restoration gets that far). 16" being the diameter of the Stag original.....not cheap mind.

                            Not 16"

                            15" for Mk 1
                            14" for Mk 2

you would find the steering much too light with a 16" I believe.
