Child Beale Boat & Classic car show

It was probably the best Sunday of the year so far and the place was full of cars and boats.

The TR register turned out in force but there was only one Stag, where were you all?

I attached a few pics to wet your apertite for next year.

This is how life was meant to be................

There were lots of TR's including a TR2 towing a period 1950's caravan.

Me too, I introduced myself to you (white stag) but could not stay as I was driving down the exit road when I saw you and convince the gate 'guard' to let me in to say helloon the understanding I would not park up or switch off (couldn't proof we had been in as we didn't get our hand stamped!

Agree good venue and hot! - Alan

So, That was you Alan (another masochist!). I just went because a pal was exhibiting there. When I rolled up I was intending to just park up as a member of the public and just stay for the morning. So when they said "Classics this way". I did as I was told and after filling in a form lined up with the TR's and got in completely free.

Spent a bit of time sailing around the lake in one of my pals boats, yarning with the dinghy cruising association, watched the Newfoundland Dogs swimming about rescueing people. Plus a lot of time in the West Berkshire Brewey tent, in between feasts from the Hog Roast. I fancied the electric canoes but havent got £33 grand, and the kipper smoking stand was amazing.

As the day wore on and the beer took effect a sort of hazy glow descended and spending the afternoon in the hot sun on the allotment grew less and less atractive.

All in alla thoroughly enjoyable day in the sunshine. Although the Boats are the whole purpose of the show and the Classics are just an interesting aside, perhaps this would be a great forum meet up next year, because on a sunny day its an idylic location?

                Hi Guys

I must have missed the Saturday turnout but everyone says what a great time they had.

It was good to meet Alan although only for a few minutes and I got some good advice from the TR guys re my carbs etc.

I spoke to the organisers and they said that the car show was growing in strength from year to year and now features as one of the main attractions. It would be great to get a field full of Stags together for next years show.

Anyone going to Stratfield Say on the 21st June. Country fete and car show.

                Tony

So you didn't fancy a ride in the claustraphobic black 'submarine'. I must admit to becoming infatuated with the steam launches. Tiny engines, massive speed. When I got home I wanted to order a set of castings from Stuart Turner and make up a steam engine on my lathe as the first step towards my own steam launch but, luckily,by Monday I had realised that I had 100 jobs to do on the Stag and the same to the house so thoughts of a Steam launch have thankfully evaporated!

My son works for Stuart Turner. These days its just Shower Pumps they make, so I don't know where you can get any castings. As for the sub, I did like the little dog who had his own forard hatch!

On the 21st I shall be at the Peppard Revels on Peppard Common. This year its theme is James Bond and I shall be there with my Inca YellowStag as part ofthe line up of all 20 James Bond cars that appeared in the films. In the film of Diamonds are Forever Bond steals crooked diamond smuggler Peter Frank's Inca Yellow Stag which he drives to Dover en routeto Amsterdam. There is an Odd Job coconut shy with bowlers which I expect to be spending quite a time on. I am hoping that my mate does an illegal flyover on his Paramotor dressed in a dinner suit. The whole shebang is being opened by Ian Flemings niece Lucy Fleming, who still lives locally. Ian lived nearby at Nettlebed.
