Boot hinge removal and refitting does every already know this trick !

After a visit from a very good friend Richard he mentioned refiting and removing his hinges complete , he said to remove a tiny piece if body work and now my hindge slips in and out with ease without damaging the body work . I have seen people striping down the spings and i,m not wanting to do this as i have great tension at present .I hope this helps or maybe there is another tip i,m yet to learn.

Hi edd, if you compress the hinge and insert a drill bit in one of the holes on the plate this keeps the hinge closed and is easy to remove without touching the body dude cheers Simon

Cheers Simon I liked my idea as no need to compress and my tension was making me worried about it going boiiiing.
The hinge then covers the part of body removed its literally 5 mm squared I thinks it's a great idea but I did wonder how people removed them. I took another picture today it will explain it to anyone interested As always two ways to skin a cat.

            Hi edd,

Been off today so had a look at all your thread pic's on your restro, then pulled up some of my old pic's of my restro, mmmmmmmmm things look soooo similar. Been thinking of fitting the Weber conversion to mine when I finally get to that point. Cheers Si

Here is a picture of the hinge being removed with its tension not compressed as you can see in the forground the hinge is up still . I have shown the tiny ammount needed to be removed , but if your happy with compressing then cool .
