    Drumming !

I have a very intrusive - and worsening - drumming from the back, so far, it defies diagnosis, all UJs, bearings and mountings check out OK. Does anyone have experience of this being down to the rubber damper near the back of the prop shaft ? Martin.

Have you checked the diff nose extension casing for cracking, they are prone to breaking and are sometimes strenghthened. Can cause all sorts of noises until they let go completely..

I had awful vibes until I replaced the propshaft, and yes, it was the rubber joint.
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

              Turn the stereo off!

I know you've been waiting for it Mart, had to do it, sorry.
I only do what the voices in my wife’s head tell me to do!

I had an intrusive drumming coming from the back of a Triumph 2500TC (which has virtually the same suspension set up as a Stag) and it turned out to be one of the large rubber suspension bushes had failed. The internal metal collar had broken free from the rubber and was not obvious until removed from the vehicle for inspection.

Ah, it all makes sense now.

A few Banana's up the tailpipe should fix the problem then!

Try balancing the wheels first (all 4).
On my last Stag & a Sprint I had too, balancing the wheels (properly, not by a Kwik Fit 16 year old) cured it.
That'll be the cheapest & easiest thing to try.
