Thanks Micky, I have done the cam break-in procedure on more than one Yank V8, it's a right pain and always causes problems, often overheating. I prefer roller cams in such applications now, precisely to avoid that.
I do think back to when those engines first came off the assembly line - I somehow doubt anyone did a full cam break in procedure then.
