    "what car is this" not stag related

    Just been out to dinner with my Mum & wife (M) and recieved this car in my cracker, yes it's java Green but what model, and why in 2012 at the end of the world am I getting 1940-50's car's in my cracker.

    So come on Boy,s that includes you Martin, what model is it.

    I do not know, but merry christmas all.

      Definately looks like a Citroen Traction Avant or Light 15 as Snakey said.

        I got the same thing the other day ! I reckon it's a Citroen Traction Avant or what was commonly known as the Light 15.

        In fact it is probably the extremely rare 'commerciale' version where the whole back end opened up, making it, arguably, the very first hatchback.

                And did anyone know that when production finished in Slough, the factory was flattened and the Mars (bar) factory built in its place.

                In fact, numerous underground ducts had to be filled in and they chucked in loads of obsolete car parts - reportedly, even including some V6 Maserati engines, as fitted to the Citroen SM

                And yes Martin, you're quite right, of course, I checked - see below - but I think I was still right about the 'hatchback' bit

                  I used to own a 1947 Riley RMA - what's that got to do with a Citroen Traction or a Light 15 you may ask?

                  Apparently, Victor Riley bought a Citroen to investigate why it had quickly gained a reputation for its direct steering and suspension. It was dismantled at the factory in Coventry and many of its design features incorporated into the Riley RM series.
