    Leaks!

I have a ratrher soggy problem...

In the 5 years that I have owned my Stag it has never ever got wet inside, however, we have had two monsoons recently and both times I have ended up with a soggy nearside rear carpet and a lake under the back seat I need to sort this problem as it is parked out in the open at work every day.

Any ideas what could be causing this? If it happens again it looks like I will have to get my hardtop sorted for the Winter!

    Thanks

    Brian

    Hi Brian,

Probably down to rubber seals, The rear seat one is the tonneau cover seal.

When I got my car I had 26 different places where water was coming in

I found that water under the rear seat was mostly due to problems related to the drain channel around the tonneau cover : NO drain tube fitted on one side; corrosion on the edge of the drain channel etc.

Obviously, your drain tube won't have disappeared but it's worth checking out this area. Taking the cubbies out is pretty easy.

Have you been parking on a slope recentlly ?

      Good luck.

      Cheers

Hi Julian and Bob, thanks for replying.

I've been out and had a look, I did not realise that the drain tubes were there but mine are both OK and clear. The tonneau cover seal looks good but what I did find is a big gap under the hood frame in the nearside rear corner. It would make sense that this is causing the leak I suppose but I have not managed to close the gap up. I have fiddled with adjusting the frame a little but I don't want to disturb too much... I will have a look in that area next time there is heavy rain (most days!) and see if any comes in. More fiddling needed I think!

        Thanks,
        Brian

            Hi Gary,

Many thanks for that, I think I've found it but if not I'll give you a shout. The most annoying part is that the water ends up under the back seat and I don't know it's there!!

            All the best

You could try taking out one of the rubber grommets in the pan below the seat- probably let more water out than in!
