    Hello Terry,
Pleased to hear that the software that Steve recommended worked. Though I have been in photography since the mid seventies, processing my own film and having a darkroom, the digital era was an almighty change. I have never had the problem that you had hence I could not talk with experience on the subject. That is why I asked someone in my club so I will inform him you have succeeded and with what software. That will be interesting to know in the future just in case I end up with your problem. The software appears to be very efficient seeing what images it has managed to retrieve.
Sorry to hear of all the security checks you suffered. I have done very little air travel since the 9/11 attacks and I am afraid this is what we have to suffer as a result. I hope your claims go through OK and that Maureen's eye problem has been sorted.

    Regards,

    Rod

It's really annoying that one press can delete everything. It's happened to my father with cherished pictures taken. He thought the format was not delete. Any format should have a preset warning or perhapes having to press two buttons simultaneously to prevent accidents

The Easus Data Recovery software I used worked a treat. I had "deleted" all previous pics on my memory card before going on the cruise (I thought) and had taken in the region of 300 to 400 new pictures when I accidentally re-formatted the card. However when I ran the recovery software it restored over 1,700 pictures which appears to be virtually all the pictures I have ever taken on the card (a 4GB one). I would have thought that once you deleted pictures and took some new ones it would overwrite the space previously occupied by the deleted pictures, but this appears to be not the case, the camera using a "blank" section of the card each time. Maybe only when the card is completely full does it overwrite old picture space?

As regards our cruise which started in Sydney, Australia and ended in Tahiti, it was only the 2nd cruise my wife and I had been on using a large sea going vessel, previously having cruised the Caribbean in 2009. The Nile cruise we undertook in 1997 used a much smaller river vessel. On the Caribbean cruise once we checked in our luggage at Manchester Airport we never saw it again until it was deposited in our Cabin when we boarded ship, and it was a similar story on the return journey, our Cabin steward taking our cases from us just before disembarking and not seeing or handling them again until we got back to Manchester.

This time though it was very different as we had to manhandle our cases ourselves at virtually every Airport where we changed planes and repeat the security procedures over and over again, twice at Hong Kong Airport. Heathrow (I have renamed it "Heath Robinson" Airport) is where they lost my case on the outward journey, and where the delays occured on the return flight (you will have to read my article for an account of the "farce" that occured there on the shuttle flight back to Manchester - it was unbelieveable).

Our journey from Tenerife, around the World and back again, involved 8 plane journeys, 1 cruise ship, 2 hire cars, 12 bottles of wine, lots of beer, and crossing 24 different time zones (including 2 x December the 13th). It took about 4 days for me to get over my jet-lag once I landed on British soil again, and by the time we got back to Tenerife my body clock was functioning normally again. Nice to be back home and in the Sun once again.

Below is one of the photographs I have just recovered as a foretaste of an article I am writing about my trip and which hopefully Carl will publish.
The picture is of two neighbours Stags who live in Tauranga and who took me and my wife out for the day (in a convoy of 6 Stags) when we docked in Tauranga.
The picture was taken by the "Mount" in Tauranga.
Joan Parker is the Pesident of the NZ branch of the Club and her husband John is the owner of the light blue Stag with the registration "73STAG".
Their next door neighbours are Ian and Heather Skene who own a Stag each - Ian's being the sapphire blue one with the registration "MI HALF", and his wife's the carmine red one registration "MY HALF".
I wonder if there is anywhere else with two next door neighbours who have 3 Stags between them.
John's "other" car is a Jaguar XKR, and Ian's other car is a Jaguar "S" type.
All but one of the New Zealand Stags I encountered had "Private" number plates on them, one with the registration "STAGGY" and another with the registration "GATS" (Stag backwards).

That's amazing! The image shows no loss of data at all. A very impressive result for retrieving deleted files.

Here's another of the recovered pics - taken at night on board our cruise ship - some local dancers from Raiatea who came on board to sing and dance. They used the open air top deck of the cruise ship to give their performance - it was quite well attended - I wonder why?

                Try this:

Recover and un-delete files with Recuva, the award-winning file recovery tool by the makers of CCleaner. Download the latest version today.

I've been amazed at what it can recover from files that have even been overwritten.
On flash cards too - which I simply do not get. No idea how it can possibly work - but it does..................

                Adrian.
