    Door catches

    Hi guys,

I'm having great difficulty in locating a set of door catch bars for the o/s door (the two bars that run from the catch to the interior handle and lock mechanism). Anybody got any ideas please?

    Cheers Simon

Robsport seem to have a lot of door furniture on their website - if you know the original part number you can search on it that way
Paul - 3 projects, 1 breaker - garage built and housing 2 white Stags. One runs, one doesn't

I think I might have a pair of Mk2 ones for the drivers door you can have, let me know and I'll look for them if you want them.

I could imagine that that is just the sort of thing that Martin at justriumph would have in abundance!
          The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

Julian asked if they are MK1 orMK2 Ian, is there much of a difference then? Having said that the PO had used arch welding rods as bars so anything would be better,

              cheers

I'm not sure what the difference is, if any! the way to identify what locks you have is look at the striker plate on the B post, if it's held on with 3 screws it's Mk1. I should have the ones from a Mk2 door in my Garage but won't be able to look for them until after the weekend I'm afraid as we are going away to the SOC Norfolk party. If you want them and if I can find them you are welcome to them, I'll pop them in the post. let know and PM me your address and I'll go to the Garage next week.

                  Thanks Ian,

Had this about my girl in a previous thread if mine was a MK1 or a MK1.5, and was told it is a MK1, however my catch on the door is MK2. When I come to ordering parts I always have this problem as my girl seems to a half and half mix of MK1 and Mk2 parts everywhere. But if you have a set that would be great thanks.

                  Cheers

                  Simon

BTW have do I send a PM and what does NOS stand for dude?

If you have Mk2 locks then your car has a Mk2 body shell. the striker plates on a Mk2 are a chrome loop held on with 2 screws. NOS is New Old Stock.

Sometime in 73 I believe, My car is a Mk1.5 built between September and November. it's a Mk1 shell with very early Mk2 interior. there are pictures in my profile if your interested.

I have replied to the PM, leave it with me.

                        Ian.

p.s. The party is very good. The Norfolk crowd have it well sorted. Not taking the Stag though going up there in the Tiguan this year.

My car was first registered in August 1973. It is a MK 1.5 and so has Mk 1 bits on it. The door mechanism is definitely MK 1.

                              hi Rod,

Now I'm really confused as I seem to have a MK2 shell with a host of MK2 parts all over it mixed with MK1 parts, yet the car was Damson (which was not put on any car after 1972) and 1st registered 1st March 1972. So does this make her a MK1 or MK1.5 then?

                              Regards

                              Simon
