    Fake Exotica and Registration Query

Have had a new companion in my car park for the past few weeks.
It looks like and sports Ferrari badges but I am reliably told it is a fake, and is a Totota (Supra?) with a Ferrari body bolted on.
It has a British registration on it which I assumed has been purchased as a "Cherished" reg. H15SCU.

Although it attracts a bit of attention - not as much as does my Stag which I think looks much better.

When it comes to the subject of registration numbers, prior to a year identifier being included in the registration,
my father and I used to own a few cars with number plates that would now be regarded as "cherished" numbers,
and I was wondering if anyone on here knows if these plates have been since acquired and transferred onto a modern vehicle.
I can't remember the number plates on my first 2 cars, a Morris Minivan and an Austin A40, but I do remember the ones below.

My father's Ford Popular with registration - HEY625
My father's Sunbeam Rapier with the reg - 641RTB
My own Sunbeam Rapier with the reg - NHG206
My wife (maureen')s Honda Accord reg - 355MAU
    My Stag's "British" registration plate - MXI124
I also owned a W123 Merc 230E with the plate - 421TMK, but I transferred this registration onto my daughter's car just before I sold the Merc.

I know there is someone on here who can access the DVLA records and say whether a registration is still in use - is that you DJT? or is it somebody else?

That Ferrari replica could be atop an MX5 or Pontiac Fiero.

Ferrari get very upset with clones like that, they have prosecuted more than a few chancers who splashed a grp body of a Fezza and marketed it as a "kit".

Never been bothered by personal reg numbers myself, I suppose a Lottery jackpot win could change that..........
Header tanks - you can't beat a bit of bling.

Body usually made by DNA in Birmingham based on Toyota MR2. They look OK from a distance but the Toyota instruments are a giveaway. Good Stag money, I know which I would I have.

              Yep - In France

The MR2, pronounced in French (please excuse my attempts at phonetic spelling) it was:

emm - air - der . Sounds just like merde

In France, Top trim level Citroen BX & CX diesel models were 'TRD' ( eg BX 19 TRD) in the Uk they were rebadged DTR, I wonder why

              Cheers

              Julian

Anyone can do a vehicle enquiry on the DVLA's database at https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/Ev...execution=e1s1 providing you know the registration and make of the vehicle concerned

The information given is Date of Liability, Date of First Registration, Year of Manufacture, Cylinder Capacity (cc), CO2 Emissions, Fuel Type, Export Marker, Vehicle Status, Vehicle Colour, Vehicle Type Approval.

                Enjoy your searches !!

Very true. What Terry is asking is whether the registration is still being used - possibly after the demise of the original vehicle. I think you'd need a sympathetic contact at DVLA for that, or a friendly copper.

If the car is on the road then it should be insured and thus on ASKMID (motor insurance database). If you check that you only need the reg no. and not the make - in fact if the car is insured you can find out the make - I now know that his daughters car is a Citroen!!! That is the only reg no. that shows up as insured out of the list so I suspect all the rest have been laid to rest.

                      "or a friendly copper"

Dont think you will find many coppers that would do a PNC check for you these days, every check is recorded and they do check why they are being done. A few coppers have lost thier job for doing checks for mates....i wouldnt risk it!!
