    Engine paint recommendations?

Hi, I noted a slight amount of water in the Vee on our TV8. I removed the inlet manifold to have it refurbed as it was looking a bit tired. I cleaned the water up but noticed that the paint on the block had reacted and was bubbling away. It could be from the heat or perhaps water and antifreeze, I don't know. It has crossed my mind that it was applied in poor conditions etc.Can anyone recommend a good quality/finish for this. I've thoroughly cleaned all the paint off and it's virtually all off (top of block that is), all dried out etc. What is the best paint to use? Thanks Andy

Hammerite seems to last quite well

Hammerite (smoothrite) I would imagine is perfect but I think it may take some time to dry until the weather gets a bit warmer you might need a warm air gun (or SWMBOs) hairdrier to help out

Strange how Hammerite reacts these days. I have recently been tidying up my front bumper assembly and using Smoothrite to coat the insides. Where I have used some of my old brush on Smoothrite it has dried hard very quickly, but where I have used new spray on stuff it has taken ages to dry in the same ambient temperature.

I guess the brush on stuff I have is pre-Low VOC formula. It certainly doesn't respond as well to the new Hammerite thinners I have, so there is definitely something different with the new 'improved' paint.

          Shake the can thoroughly

i generally find the spray to dry quicker than the brush on stuff

But i haven't hammerited anything for about a year now. I hope that they haven't buggered around with the formula.

Frost sell a good engine enamel, I used it on my PI in 2006 and it still looks good

This weekend I applied a coat of POR15 engine enamel to the GT6 engine. I purchased the paint via Frosts. Only time will tell how long it lasts.
