    stag door handle mechanisum

    hello
i need some help, i am rebuilding my stag external door handles and have no drawings or pictures for guidance, my problem is how does the door lock barrel link into the push plate mechanism and the door lock plate in the door.

i think i have all the bits but not sure how it all links together!!

any help would be warmly received, thanks in advance

    Hi, and welcome.

Try downloading the Repair Operations Manual here: http://www.grampianstags.net/StagManual.pdf

    You need page 354 onwards..............

      Cheers Dave, thanks for that

my car is a MK2 and i think the drawing in the manual refers to a MK1

the lock barrel has a fork attached to it but it does not connect with anything when fitted into the door, my thoughts are that this should stop either the handle being operated or lift the linkage out of the way to stop the door lock mechanism being opened.

the image in the manual 76.37.39 shows what i think is a MK1, my car is a MK2 and unfortunately does not lend itself to my issue.

thank you for your help and thank you for the welcome

          Hi (Tony ?)

The fork should sit, very loosely, either side of a welded pin that sticks out from the lock mechanism ( the bit that sits inside the back edge of the door and which is held on by the four screws that also hold on the metal/plastic lock mechanism on the outside of the door)

Bloody hard to explain but, unfortunately, I haven't got any pictures.

You can't see it in Drew's picture I'm afraid.

          Good luck - and welcome

          Cheers

                thanks for the photos

it looks like i am missing part of the bracket that is shown in the last photo.
my brackets are missing the moving portion of the assembly

                cheers again for the photos
