Peter's at LDParts are only £119. http://www.ldparts.co.uk/shop/shop.p...05fa3b59ef7e1b
I know who I'd trust and the relatively small extra cost certainly wouldn't put me off.
Cheers

If it was working ok with no leaks then I personally wouldn't change it. Mind you, everything else about your car is going to be so perfect that you may want to change it just to keep up the standard

Ps Don't forget to straighten up, or renew, the bent PAS pipes

The issue I found (as did another member) was getting a steering rack which works well (i.e, not much play at all, not too stiff and not too heavy). It sounds crazy but even a recon rack I fitted to my car had an advisory from the MOT tester in addition to him commenting on how stiff it was (although he did say that he saw the same issues on modern recon racks). It is not as if he is unfamiliar with classics either (He has a 2CV in addition to a couple of MGBs).
One member on here had issues with recon racks barely lasting the warranty period although he has tried one from TD Fitchett which is said to be spot on in terms of the 3 factors mentioned above). Whether it was luck or they are a consistent producer of good quality recon items is not known AFAIK.

Every MOT I have to fight off the tester for NEARLY failing it on steering play, no matter what you do it always remains the same.

Sukh.
Try http://www.steeringdevelopments.co.uk/ they do the racks for any car for disabled drivers with power steering force down to "0" if you want it.
A friend of mine is disabled (polio from the age of 8) and he had a Ford escort modified by this company and I went along to see what they were about very, very interesting company.
Paul.
