I can't tell you without going to mine which is not at home at the moment, but what I would suggest is fit them so as you can actually use them. the original position is rubbish for the view behind.

Hiya, there is no correct position, the door mirrors were a dealer fit, some were sold with none and some with one. As Ian says, fit them so you can see in them. Make sure they're clear of the quarter lights when you open them, you may even need to fit the N/S one slightly further back than the O/S, undetectable so not a prob. Use a friend to help position them.

I seem to remember the n/s mirror being offered from the factory as an option after the drivers became a legal requirement.
At this time were they still not fitted at the factory ?
If they were not there must surely have been a technical bulletin with measurements or a template as so many appear to be in the same place on the later models..Originally posted by martin View PostHiya, there is no correct position, the door mirrors were a dealer fit, some were sold with none and some with one. That's a brilliant document to have Paul, have you thought of laminating it ? Martin.

Ps I note the customer had a London address. I used to do quite a few deliveries from either Swansea or Cardiff, up to London - Happy DaysLast edited by jleyton; 14 January 2013, 21:58.

see attached.
It looks like a G H Morgan the signature is difficult to read.
I wonder why some one from London bought the Stag from Cardiff perhaps it was the spec being white and black, Manual with O/d.
I Think he (Albert Gutteridge ) must have been a very early SOC member as the badge / window sticker is very old.
Oh mud flaps were £7.25 thats on the order form and there is an agreed discount of £26.69.

Paul. That's Geoff Morgan, who was Sales manager when I was Parts manager at Lex Mead Swansea.
Geoff was a great guy. I remember when I was allocated a Maxi as a Company car (very uncool for a 22 year old !) he managed to 'arrange' things so I got a TR7 instead. Mind you, back then, a TR7 was looked down on as a poor successor to the 6. However, I soon came out of the 7 and Geoff got me a Dolly Sprint instead.
Re customers in London, as I mentioned, I used to take quite a few cars up from Cardiff or Swansea to London. I think it was a case of good salesmen having contacts all over the place and the relatively early days of Company cars.
Cheers
Julian

Did UK cars used to come with service passports like these?
Passport.jpg
The metal tags provided owner/car info that I guess was carbon copied onto any work orders etc.
I have the original one when the BL dealer first registered the car and the other one is for the PO. who had the car for 32 years before me.
I'd love to have the original invoice!
